What’s your favorite Christmas memory?
When I was a little girl, we would go to my great-grandparents’ (Papaw and Mamaw) house for Christmas in North Carolina. Every year on Christmas Eve, there was a gentleman that would bring Mamaw a Red Velvet cake. I learned that, years ago, my Papaw was a character witness for the gentleman in court. After this, the man brought a Red Velvet cake on Christmas Eve to show his gratitude. Even after my Papaw’s passing years ago, the man would still bring my sweet Mamaw a cake.
What’s your idea of a good Christmas Dinner?
Ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, yeast rolls…..and DESSERT!
Do you have a favorite Christmas album?
My mama used to drive around and listen to Martina McBride’s, “White Christmas” album. She loves this album so much and it has become one of my favorites!
Do you have any favorite traditions or favorite movies for the holiday season?
My family spends the days surrounding Christmas playing cards and board games! We also have a full spread of awesome finger foods before the big meal!
Whats been your favorite album of 2016?
I am currently hooked on Miranda Lambert’s newest record, “The Weight of These Wings.” It’s so very good.
What are your hopes for 2017? Any exciting plans?
With the coming of the new year, I hope to play more gigs on the road! I absolutely love visiting new places and meeting new people. I also plan to really dive into writing and, hopefully, begin a new album project!
The holiday season brings the best parties and time together with friends and family. What is your signature Christmas Cocktail recipe that you will be serving?
Red Velvet Martini
For the rim of the glasses
- 1 can of cream cheese frosting (you only need 2 teaspoons of the frosting)
- Red sugar crystals
For the Martinis
- 2 ounces cake vodka
- 1 ounce Creme de Cacao
- 1/2 ounce vanilla vodka
- 1/2 ounce whipped vodka
- 1/4 ounce aperol
- 1/2 ounce grenadine
- 1/4 teaspoon of powdered sugar
- Take about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese frosting for each glass.
- Spread the frosting in a thin line around the outside rim.
- Roll in the red sugar crystals.
- Set the glasses aside.
- Measure the cake vodka, Crème de Cacao, vanilla vodka, whipped vodka, Aperol, grenadine, powdered sugar, and ice into a cocktail shaker.
- Shake until well blended.
- Strain evenly into the two glasses.
