Mark Bray’s Game Day Chili

Mark Bray’s Game Day Chili

Chili has been a staple in my house my whole life. My mom made it all the time. When I moved out on my own, my mom’s chili recipe was a normal menu feature in my apartment. Why? Because it’s a good hearty meal on a budget! You can make a batch that will last we week for under 30 bucks! Today, I’m going to show you the quick and easy way to make my game day chili!

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 1 hour

So as far as ingredients go, you can get creative. Chili is like a stew, there is no wrong way to make it! Unless you are one of those anti-bean people. Haha!

For today’s feature, I’m going to show you how to make the budget version (starving artist version) that anyone can easily make. Naturally, fresh veggies are preferred, but hey, who has time for all that?

1 pound Lean ground beef
1 1/2 pounds lean ground turkey
*Really, you can use any type of meat you want. I like to use lean stuff because it’s healthier and requires less draining.

1 small can of chopped mushrooms.
*Fresh mushrooms are better, but if you’re on a time crunch and can’t spend all day chopping, a can works fine.

1 small can of diced green chili’s
1 can of black beans
1 can of red beans
1 can of garbanzo beans
1 can of kidney beans
3 cans diced tomatoes
*again, if you have the time, fresh chopped veggies and beans are ALWAYS better. However, when kickoff is in an hour, ain’t nobody got time for that!

Hot sauce (your choice of brand)
Ground cayenne red pepper
McCormick Original Chili Mix

-Brown the meat in a large stock pot on medium high, then drain if necessary.
-And half of your chili seasoning and cumin and mix.
-Lower heat to medium abs and the remaining ingredients.
-Stir until you have an even mixture!
-Lower to simmer and cover for 1 hour!

It’s that easy!

What’s the secret? There is none! Chili is like stew! You can put whatever the heck you want to put in it!

Bon appétit!

ABOUT MARK BRAY: This new country artist finds the common ground with everyone and draws each fan in with the release of his debut single For Love, which is currently climbing the Music Row Country Breakout Chart. He is on tour performing and visiting radio stations along the way in support of the song. This South Florida native always had music instilled in his blood. They say it takes only one moment for someone to become hooked and know that making music is their dream, and for Mark, it was watching the 1994 television special featuring Garth Brooks. Motivated by his passion for music and his love of performing, he was influenced by many different styles of music – the pop hits of the day through his mother, 70’s singer/songwriters via his father and the rock-n-roll hits of the 80s and 90s that he first heard being sung by his siblings. With an eclectic range of musical influences ranging from Garth Brooks to Billy Joel, James Taylor and Jimmy Buffet, he describes his style of music as 90s country with a modern feel. “There’s nothing better when I’m on stage performing and seeing how the crowd is reacting. It’s a matter of me being happy with my performance, but I want that one person who has never seen me before come up and say ‘Man, you’re the guy.’ If one person does that, then I’ve done my job.” With Bray’s creative soul, compelling charm and driven work ethic that won’t let him slow down, it looks like he is on the right path to becoming a household name.
