Nestled in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem sits Camel City Bar BBQ Factory. The perfect dining spot for adults, kids, and everyone in between.
We took a trip Camel City BBQ Factory this past Saturday for lunch. We were reminded what an awesome vibe the restaurant has brought to the downtown area. With Atari game consoles and table games at the booths,TV’s lining the bar and an arcade, there are no shortage of things to do while you wait for your food or a table.
A neon sign on the wall reads, “Barcade” .. half bar, half arcade. With a 5 year old and 4 month old in tow, we weren’t throwing back shots or sampling the many beer options, but we had no shortage of fun.
While we waited for our food, my husband took our 5 year old to play games. The arcade was lined with all the classics from pinball, to Mortal Combat, hunting games and skeet ball. On a Saturday afternoon, there were adults having fun with their children and adults, tossing back the brews while they enjoyed a a friendly game of air hockey.
Our food was delicious. While we wished we could have sampled the whole menu, it just wasn’t in our cards. Of course we couldn’t go to Camel City BBQ and not get BBQ, so we did get a BBQ plate. We also feasted on enough chicken quesadilla for 10. Phew the serving size was plenty for one.
We finished up our late lunch with some more games. Jealous of the adults hanging out, watching college football and knocking a few cold ones back, we decided we will return with a few friends of our own and our quarters in hand ready to kick some butts in whatever game they choose.
If you are ever in the area it is a MUST stop. A “Barcade” is literally the coolest idea ever.
