About Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. These improvements help children create better schools, safer neighborhoods, and make healthier choices. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a volunteer and donor driven organization. Funds raised by the Franklin Wine Festival events used to conduct background checks on volunteers to ensure child safety; and provide ongoing support for children, families and volunteers to build and sustain long-lasting relationships. Big Brothers Big Sisters is proven to improve children’s odds for succeeding in school, behaving nonviolently, and avoiding drugs and alcohol. Kids with a mentor are less likely to skip school, less likely to begin smoking or drinking, and more likely to graduate from high school.  Our children are searching for role models in their everyday lives, and the fact is that each child has a mentor – it’s just that in many cases, it’s not the right one. Mentoring Matters!
